The council at TEO overruled Andius and tabled the Treaty for now. They are currently making many changes to their internal structure and site security due to the PR nightmare of the treaty.
The biggest issue Aeternum had, as many of you may have read, were the very loosely defined "griefing" actions. We agree, in principal, with the intent. Execution, as it was presented, we did not.

That is our stance as well, though coupled with the non-aggression concerns given the focus for the Circle in that area. Hrod, have you had any direct engagement with TEO since this matter? If not, I'll reach out, as I don't want them to misunderstand our silence as not standing in like mind to many of their principles.

I think that the only way to effectively combat griefers with any policy is to be vague. The reason for his is because these are the very people who will sit and lawyer out exactly what is and is NOT covered by any given written policy and will do everything in their power to exploit whatever lines are left between the written words. If you ban 300 things, then they will come up with 299 things you didn't explicitly write out as being forbidden and will attempt to point at the document as proof that they are in the "right."
Forbidding griefing as a tactic and play style by generally defining it as any action that is done with the sole or primary intent of bothering another player as opposed to some other goal.

I actually quite liked Ryan's comment on the subject of griefing. We're Watching: If someone is causing you grief, report that behavior. We'll take swift action if we decide that the person is misbehaving. Our justice will be swift, and arbitrary. Players will learn that they shouldn't try to figure out where the line is; there is no line. Bad behavior is in the eye of the beholder, and the eye is ours. (I should note that being killed by someone is not misbehavior. Misbehavior is intentionally inflicting emotional distress on another player without any in-game rationale.)

There's no reason to sign a treaty about griefing. Reasons... 1) We know that we are against griefing, we don't need to prove it by signing a piece of paper. 2) We know that Goblinworks is against griefing... see above quote posted by Dario. 3) I would prefer it if we stayed in character as much as possible once the game starts. Griefers are a metagame problem that can be taken care of by ignoring them (for verbal griefers), chasing and locking them out of our settlement (for physical griefers), and reporting the griefer to Goblinworks. This doesn't take a treaty, it only takes vigilance.

Erian, I haven't reached out to them yet. I've been a bit busy with RL stuff, I promise I will rectify that this week. My apologies.

Not a problem, Hrod. I've been a bit busier of late as well!
