“Yes, we have warriors! Maybe I wasn’t clear enough, I said DRIVEN from our hunting grounds, we fought them. We didn’t just say, ‘Here bandits we really don’t feel like being here anymore so we’ll be leaving. Oh and by the way why don’t you chop all the trees down for a fort and do some slash and burn farming while you’re at it too." Orboros' said.
Karter could tell by the furrowed brow, and the way the elf had spoken, that he had offended him. Erastil hissed again, not taking well to Orboros' tone. Karter reached into a pocket on the side of his pack and pulled out a small strip of dried meat, handing it to Erastil. The dragon plucked the snack from his hand and ate it, seeming to calm slightly. Karter leaned forward, staring into Orboros' eyes.
"I didn't mean to offend. For me when someone says driven it means they didn't put up a fight, like with sheep or goats. And, so you don't take this the wrong way too, I'm not comparing your people to farm animals. I apologize for offending you and, if you'd like, maybe help your people take back some of what you lost." Karter said calmly, his face blank of expression.
"Hail there travelers, might there be another spot at your fire for a druid and her companion?" a voice rang out.
Erastil jumped from Karter's shoulder, unfolding her wings, and took flight. She flew up into the tree, landed on a high branch, and sat.
"I'll be down when it's safe." Karter heard her voice in his head.
"Well you're loads of help." Karter said out loud, still looking at the dragon as she casually licked on of her claws. Karter then looked at Calhoun and said, "I think you might wanna open up an inn, friend. Seems you picked a prime location."

"No I haven't seen any bandits Karter. You two are the first humanoids I've encountered since this trip has began."
Calhoun spun his head around at the sound of yet another new voice. Another elf strode her way into 'his' clearing. She asked if there was room for one more and the Ranger was speechless.
"A- Yes. Of course. Please sit." That's all he managed to get out before he stood and offered her his seat. "I have a feeling we're going to need more meat so I'm going to get some more. Please help yourselves to what's already on the spit."
Before he got too far he stopped himself and turned back towards her. "My names Calhoun by the way. I'll let the other four introduce themselves."

(OOC note) The reason I mentioned bandits is because in the MMO there will be three major NPC faction: the Knights of Iomede, the Hell Knights and from within the depths of the Echo Wood, a wretched hive of scum and villainy exerts control over much of the forest. Last I heard there was a vote going on to name the bandits. This is all from the Goblinworks blog under the Introducing the Crusader Road section.
“Well, perhaps my unfamiliarity with Common is in part the cause of this misunderstanding. As far as I knew “invaded” and “driven out” both suggested fighting. Your offer of assistance is very generous.” Oboros said, his expression warming considerably.
Oboros heard soft footsteps from behind. I female voice asked to have a spot at the fire and announced that she was a druid and had a companion. Fenrir had sat up during the exchange with Karter, his ears pricked and he looked in the newcomer’s direction. Oboros slowly stood up, hoping not to startle her or Karter, since the mood was still tense from bringing up the bandit issue. He slowly half turned, as not to turn his back on Karter or Cal, and he didn’t want to offend the newcomer with remaining seated with her arrival. He saw that the woman was an elf, and her companion was a wolf.
“I am oboros, my hunting companion is Fenrir. A druid, you say have you traveled far to come here? There are several elven tribes in these woods, and my tribe is one of the more reclusive ones, so hopefully you’ll excuse me if I don’t recognize you on sight.” Orboros said. Generally he would have preferred to speak to her in the elven language, but with the situation as it was, he worried that it would lead to misunderstanding with Karter.

As Taela took the final steps into the fire's light she saw a quick flash of blue dart up into a high tree. It was quite unfamiliar to her and she couldn't make out what it was very well at all. None of the others seems bothered by it so she pushed her curiosity back for now.
Baern followed close by her heels with his ears mostly to his head, lifting up ever so slightly ever few seconds only to be quickly brought back down, and his tail firmly down but not tucked all the way to his belly, yet. Being just a yearling and already away from his pack, the scent of the mature wolf is imposing enough to confuse him. He inches closer to the other wolf sniffing the air while keeping his head low.
Taela doesn't get much of a look at the half-elf offering her his own seat before he heads off to his kill. Yet the first quick impression was quite high. Offering his own seat was unneeded, but she couldn't turn down such a gracious ans polite offer. The blood on his face was reassuring as a hunter who respected the Old Ways was not likely to abuse the gifts of the forest. Lastly, he counted the other wolf as one of four to be introduced, there aren't many who count companions on equal standing. She couldn't help but smile in his direction, quite a impressive stranger indeed.
In her quick survey of the rest of the gathering she noted a human, an elf, and a wolf. The human didn't appear quite as comfortable as the others, perhaps he is a bit out of his element. The elf appeared to be of her own order, which was a comforting sight. She turned to Oboros and Fenrir first giving them a smile, nod, and a quick casual greeting in Druid, something to the extent of "Well met, Brothers."
Switching to common she speaks in the direction of the half-elf first but then looks about the group, always with a warm smile.
"Thank you, you are much too kind" as she settles down in Calhoun's seat. "I am known as Taela, and though my tribe is originally from these woods, my family has been away for quite some time. I have traveled a fair distance to reconnect with my kin. Certainly no need to excuse for not recognizing me."
She reaches into her backpack and pulls out a large sack. "You offer to share your kill so freely, would any of this interest you? I would be glad to turn it into a stew to share." Opening the sack up one can see it is quite filled with tuber vegetables, a few onions, a variety of herbs, and the like. "They won't keep in my sack much longer, and I have been looking for an occasion to use them up."
Then almost as an afterthought, she quickly looks around the group clearly counting to three, "I thought you said other four?"

((OOC Note: I am really new to the Pathfinder universe myself, so I don't know much about specific cultures, regions, orders etc. If anyone knows a great source for me to learn more about the fluff around Druids in this world I would try really really hard to hug you through the internet. (OOC) Here's a link that has some info for druids in the Pathfinder universe. www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/17789/wikis/druidsIt's fairly sparse, but it notes a few orginizations and some other intresting facts. I'll let you know if I can scrouge up anything else. The Druidic language is kind of a tricky thing, IMO. It's a secret language, so it's not something that could really be spoken when non druids are around IMO. For example if you where asked to explain what was said, I don't really think you'd be allowed to say because then they could start to infer the meanings of some of the words. I guess you could lie and say you where speaking a different language, probably a little known language that your character also speaks, like sylvan for example (if your character knew that language). I'm not saying you post is "wrong", I like it a lot. Oboros might ask Taela to be more careful of when she speaks in Druidic, in Druidic of course. Edit: Druidic could work like a secret handshake in a way, to determine who is a druid, but that's usually between 2 people, just my take.

“Well, perhaps my unfamiliarity with Common is in part the cause of this misunderstanding. As far as I knew “invaded” and “driven out” both suggested fighting. Your offer of assistance is very generous."
Karter nodded towards Oboros. He really didn't want to have bad blood between someone he'd only just met. He watched as the disembodied voice he had heard only moment's ago appeared through the brush with a body. It was another elf, a female this time. Karter stood up, manners were manners after all. Following Oboros and Cal's lead introduced himself.
"My name is Karter."
"I thought you said other four?"
"Ah yes, Erastil come be social." Karter said looking up at the little blue dragon resting on branch in the tree. She lifter her head and looked down at him.
"I'm quite comfortable here thank you." Karter heard her voice in his head. He raise his eyebrows while still staring at her, sort of a 'Come here now' look. Karter could have sworn the little dragon rolled her eyes at him, stretched, and then flew down to him. She laid across his shoulders, tail on the left side and her head on his right.
"This is Erastil, she may not seem friendly at first but she's as friendly as they come. She's been my friend for a time now." Karter said, reaching up with two fingers and rubbing the side of Erastil's jaw.
He and Erastil did have a good, and unique, friendship. How many people could claim that a dragon, no matter the size, chose to follow them around partaking and whatever trouble they could find.

(OOC: Just to clear the air and the confusion, I attached a file of the clearing we're in.) Calhoun drew his heavy knife from the scabbard on the right side of his belt. He approached the massive buck. It was laying with its stomach facing the fire, it's head to the North and it's big white fluffy tail to the South. A large gash ran the entire length of the underside of the deer from when Cal had gutted it. He knelt and grabbed the deer's front right leg. Just as he assumed, the deer was frozen solid with the temperature well below freezing. Speaking of freezing, a single snowflake drifted past the Half-Elf's nose. he looked up to see a light snow begin to fall. He smiled. The winter had always been his favorite time of year. Calhoun set to work with his knife and began to peel back the deer's skin. Hunting was an artform. Not only with tracking and killing. The hunt went beyond the kill. Gutting, dragging the kill to market, and skinning. He relished in the thrill of the hunt. All aspects of it. He listened to the exchange going on behind him while he cut a chunk of venison from the front right haunch. Attachments:

Fenrir greeted Baern, Oboros noted that Taela’s hunting companion was still rather young and that it seemed uncertain how to approach Fenrir. Oboros was certain that Fenrir would be accepting of the yearling though.
Taela must be from a tribe more open with the Druidic language Oboros thought to himself, when greeted by her. He decided to talk to her about it later. "May the Kami be with you sister.” He said in Druidic.
"Unfortunately there have been troubling developments in the Echo Forest, since your departure Taela. Bandits have invaded; they've driven my tribe from our hunting grounds. I hope that your tribe is safe. Actually Karter and I were discussing this topic when you arrived." Oboros said.
“Well since we have more guests now, I should probably add more to the meal as well”. Oboros retrieved the Portobello mushrooms, the remainder of the blueberries and the tobacco to share with the others.

Now at much greater ease Baern settled down next to Taela and calmly observed everyone present.
Seemingly frozen in place in the middle of opening the her stew bag Taela stared at the small blue figure. Despite her age she had rarely seen any creatures such as this, and certainly not so close. Her curiosity overwhelms her as her eyes soak in every detail they can find. She vaguely comes to her senses and realizes her mouth might very be hanging open, and that she ought to say something, anything.
"Well met Karter.... Erastil..." Her words came out slowly as she was clearly still mesmerized. Suddenly a thought came to her and she snapped back to her senses.
"Oh! Or should it be Lady Erastil? I apologize I don't know the right honorific for one of your kind. I've never met one such as impressive..." She continues to ramble on in that manner as she fumbles through the various pockets of her pack. Finally she pulls out two little sacks of dried meat strips.
"Do you like rabbit jerky? I have some seasoned with herbs and some unseasoned if that is more your fancy..." She holds out two pieces, one of each type, looking to Erastil with a hopeful look in her eyes.

"Well met Karter.... Erastil..." Taela said slowly. Karter fought the urge to grin as Taela watched Erastil, her mouth hanging open slightly. He knew Erastil wasn't a creature saw on a normal basis but he couldn't help but find the elf's reaction to her a bit amusing. She almost had the same look a child did when you told them a great story, that look they get when they can see something but might not believe it's there.
"Oh! Or should it be Lady Erastil? I apologize I don't know the right honorific for one of your kind. I've never met one such as impressive..."
Erastil's head picked up of Karter's shoulder and she looked at him then to Taela.
"You'd think I was a precious stone the way she's acting." Karter heard inside his head.
"Well let's face it, how many people can say they've seen something like you before?" Karter thought, communicating telepathically with Erastil.
"True, very true little one."
"Why do you always call me that?"
"Because, little one,' she put some emphasis on the phrase, 'You look small from up in the air." Karter rolled his eyes at that comment.
"Tell her she may call me Erastil for now." Erastil said in his mind, laying her head back down.
"Tell her yourself." Karter said out loud, gesturing with his head to Taela. Erastil's tail moved back and forth for a moment, a thin trail of grey smoke rose from her nostrils. She then lifted her head and faced Taela.
"You may call me Erastil for now, Taela." Erastil said* out loud.
"Do you like rabbit jerky? I have some seasoned with herbs and some unseasoned if that is more your fancy..." Taela said, Karter could see the hopeful look in her eyes.
Erastil's tail twitched back and forth, her eyes fixated on the jerky like a cat watching a mouse. In one quick motion she flew from Karter's shoulder to the jerky, grabbing it with her front claws, and returned to where she lay before. She sniffed the jerky and then began eating. Karter didn't need for Erastil to tell him what she thought of the food. He chuckled slightly to himself then look at Taela.
"She likes it, and thanks you." Karter said, he felt something wet hit his cheek, looked up and noticed it had started to snow. Winter was here.

Calhoun finished cutting off a reasonable chunk of venison from the deer's right shoulder and replaced the hide. He had done well to gingerly cut the hide away from the meat. He had plans for this pelt. Maybe a new blanket for his bed or a rug.
He spun around and walked back to the fire, grabbing a handful of sticks as he went. He paused for a second in his step as he noticed a shift in the wind and an increase in speed. The ranger set the chunk of meat on the log by Karter along with the sticks.
"Nymerias," Calhoun started, "I know you promised us all stew and I would love that but I have a feeling that this weather is going to take a turn for the worse. Call it a gut feeling or a ranger's intuition. Worse case scenario, we could hoof it to my cabin and hole up there until this blows over."
With that said he shrugged off his fur cloak and began to walk up the hill to the oak tree whose roots formed the natural retaining wall. "I'm gonna scale this tree and see if I can't get a better look at this storm." He said and then started up the tree.

OOC: So is this a good place to end this scene?
@ Cal: Did you have a specific plan for a get together at your character's cabin?

OOC: We could, I was trying to follow the order of posting and wait till you posted. Calhoun might have been going somewhere by climbing the tree, but we kind of need him on the ground to lead us to his cabin.

Oboros had been so intrigued by all of the new arrivals that he barely noticed the aproaching storm. Which was uncharacteristic for him.
"Thank you for the offer to come to your cabin Cal, but I need to report back to my tribe. They'll worry for my safety if I'm gone for too long on patrol." Oboros explained.
