Just in case anyone missed the comment on the Kickstarter. @all - Word in from the team: Two-part names will be required. So everyone think of a last name for your PC. Jan. 08, 2013 on Pathfinder Online: A Fantasy Sandbox MMO. Which is awesome news! But I'm terrible at coming up with surnames...

I'm good to go--just have to decide if I want to go with the "elven" El'ranelen or the Common Starwalker.

Now that they have the regional trait I really want to buff up on everything. I really want a last name that sounds like it comes from that region, you know? I always feel like a surname should have a lot of family history behind it.

Hroderich hails from a long line of Gottfrei characters with distinct (and distinctly violent) histories. Going to have to brush up and see where to place his past in Golarion, since most of our games have been homebrewed settings.

Is Elven in the pathfinder world just based on Sindarin?

Is there somewhere in Golarion where a Germanic or proto-Germanic culture can be found?

I don't think it's ever been explicitly stated. The only information I've seen on Elven regarded it as a mixture of sylvan (fey langugage), celestial, and draconic.
The only official example of elven language I could find was the names block from the Elf core rulebook entry.

Is there somewhere in Golarion where a Germanic or proto-Germanic culture can be found? Ulfen are sort of a norse/proto-germanic mix. You could probably make an argument for Kellids too.

And then I began my research to settle Hroderich more solidly in Golarion.
