Is it too early to talk about using a VOIP (Voice over Internet Program)? We could use it to hold meetings to discuss points of interest and to vote. I have a Mumble server that hardly anyone is currently using if people want to use it for the interim until we decide on a program and a plan of action for something to use going forward.
We can also use it to just log in and hang out as well. It makes sense to get to know each other as guildmates.
Thoughts?

I like the idea of voice chatting at least at some point. May help in some decision making as voice is sometimes easier for folks. Though we would have to deal with schedules and time zones etc. But worth looking into.

Sometimes dog hair makes my nose tickle. umm, ohh, not that kind of thought? I think a voice thingy is a good idea. I've never used one. Would they be usable during gaming (once it starts) to be able to more easily organize adventure parties, caravans, and such?

Yes Gin, they are able to function while you play the game. You assign a push to talk key that you hold down in order to talk while you're playing. Programs also usually have an overlay that works in game so you can see who's talking without impeding your visual acuity while you're in game.

I'm a firm believer in having a guild voice chat of some sort available. I think there's a discussion to be had about what client we'd like to use, and how to handle the server (if one is required). Personally, I prefer a server type program (ventrilo, teamspeak, etc) to an adhoc style (skype). I like the option to just hop on and be there whenever someone logs in, rather than having to set up a group chat every time. And I'd be willing to arrange for server hosting if we go that route.

Like I already said, I have a Mumble server if the guild would like to use it for the interim until it's decided what to use permanently. If that's acceptable I can provide the info needed to login.
