TAKE NOTE! This is not set in stone, I am working with other members on this to make sure it makes sense and is fair. It is subject to change, all of it. This is a rough draft, not the final copy.
Keepers and Wardens of Shadow:
What follows is a rough outline of what the bylaws for the Ring of Shadow shall follow. This can be changed by the Guardian of Shadow with the approval of the Inner Circle.
Chapter: Ring of Shadow
Purpose: As aid and conflict are a part of the Circle, so are stealth, surprise, and the use of less than lawful means to achieve ends. The Purview of the Ring of Shadow is Stealth;
Keepers of Stealth act as the equivalent of covert operations for The Circle. Keepers of Shadow are called upon to enact retribution against single targets, to disrupt supply lines of forces hostile to Life, and to reclaim objects that have been taken from their rightful owners amongst other things.
Section I: Leadership/Hierarchy and Elected Positions
• The Ring of Shadow ultimately answers to the call of the Sentinel, but within the Ring itself is its own Hierarchy. The Ring of Shadow is commanded by the Guardian of Shadow; below the Guardian will be two Master/Mistress of Shadow, the equivalent of second in commands.
• Master/Mistress’ of Shadow will be the Guardian’s second in command. They hold less power than the Guardian but enough to deal with minor issues and to aid in advice.
• The Guardian of Shadow and the two Master/Mistress’ of Shadow are the formal leaders of the Ring of Shadow. After them the Ring will be broken into “platoons”, each of which will be headed by one individual who answers directly the Guardian and Master/Mistress’ of Shadow. Those who are put in charge of these platoons will gain the title Shadowfoot
• The Ring of Shadow will have a very militant structured hierarchy that follows this order:
1. Guardian of Shadow
2. Master/Mistress of Shadow (2)
a. These two positions are the only ones that hold power within the Ring of Shadow. Any appointed positions after, unless approved by the Sentinel, are powerless and are simply there to take care of less important issues.
3. Shadowfoot
4. Wardens of Shadow
5. Keepers of Shadow
Section 2: Acceptance, Initiation and Life in the Shadow:
Keepers and Wardens of Shadow will make up the majority of the members of the Ring of Shadow. What follows is subject to change by the Guardian of Shadow with the approval of the Inner Circle.
Acceptance:
• To be accepted into the Ring of Shadow a Keeper must exhibit certain qualities in his/her gameplay. Such as, but not limited too :
o A willingness to perform tasks where your character may likely be killed. We are going to be running as spies, counter-intelligence, thieves, etc. Things that people will, at least we will be, looking for within their own organizations and don’t want there. There’s a chance you may not come back from a mission, but it’s for the greater good brothers and sisters.
o A willingness to work with other Rings. We will be working with other Rings, as they will work with us. We may assist the Ring of Steel in assaulting a fortress, heading in early to what we can to soften the enemy from within.
o Before being fully welcomed into the Ring the Ring of Shadow prospect, Prospective as they’ll be called during this time, will be asked to perform certain tasks to show their skill. The higher the level the Perspective is, the more difficult the tasks. At the end of their trial they will have final task that will involve them doing something that benefits the guild. After this task is complete, no time limit within reason, the Perspective will be officially inducted into the Ring.
• After the Perspective has completed their task they will be officially inducted into the Ring of Shadow. It is here they will be given their ring, and any other items marking them as an initiated member. It is also at this time they will be told the Response to the Challenge “Be as silent and swift as Shadows”.
Post-Induction and Life in the Ring
• The Ring of Shadow will also have a categorical system in place.
o Keepers and Wardens of Shadow are broken into 3 main sects. Assassin, Thief and Spy are the main three*. There will be others but you will be placed into one of these three main categories for the sake of organization. Example; John Doe plays a roof runner, but happens to some skills leveled in picking locks, sneak and charisma but has no intention of stealing things. John Doe would likely be placed within the Spy category based on his skills. These categories are in place to allow the Sentinel or the Guardian to call upon a select group for a specific purpose.
• After the Perspective is inducted, learning the Response and getting the needed items, they will be granted the In-Ring title of Padfoot*. Take note, these In-Ring titles do not replace the formal titles of Keeper and Warden, these are informal titles that Keepers and Wardens of Shadow may call each other at their own choosing.
There is still much in the works for this. This is but a taste of what is to come.
