I like pretty much everything in this blog, but I'm a bit fuzzy about what they mean about the Ability Scores. I'm so set in the ways of Tabletop and older MMO styles so Ability scores are an important part of the game to me. I trust that they will make it work out.

It is definitely an interesting blog. And thanks for posting when the blogs go up, Gintigael. I would likely miss them otherwise because I will forget to check after a bit of time

From my reading, it sounds like ability scores have no direct impact on things, but serve to track your progress in related skillsets, and serve as prerequisites for advanced skills within them. So having a high strength doesn't make you better at strength skills, but is rather an indication that you have spend significant time training your strength skills and you are better at strength-related things in general than someone who has not.

From what I read, abilitie scores will have 2 purposes. First, they will be a prerequisite for abilities and feats and second, they define the minimum "score" you have in related abilities. So if you didn't "buy" ranks in Climb, you would use your Strength Score instead.

But you can only raise your abilities by purchasing related feats. And your abilities don't effect your actions, but only effect what feats you can purchase when you upgrade your character. Its different than I'm used to and I'm curious to see how it works. The more I mull it over in my head the more I like it.

One door this blog opens is to our settlement being a destination for training known throughout the world. so long as our members can train, we can allow others to buy training at our training halls for coin, or maybe even rare resources! What do you all think? Is it worth considering?

I think its kind of what some of us have been talking about. Having a place where others can come and feel safe trading and training.
But we won't have the resources to have the best training in everything. So do we want to have a basic level of training in everything or do we want to focus on a few aspects and have the best training possible in those aspects?
I think we should have a focus of a small number of things so we are known for that. Selfishly I would like one of those focuses to be Jeweler, since that's what Gintigael is.

We certainly have the diversity being each ring specializing in certain areas. Depending on how the whole process of settlements getting training goes, we are set up for being a place to get a lot of different training options.

If we are going to specialize, defensive training would probably be the best way to go. Kind of goes with our non-aggression theme.
If we end up as a nation each settlement could have different training specializations.

We will have to see what route settlements nearby do? If we have good relations with them, we might be able to work out a plan to have training facilities they don't have, and we can use their facilities and they can use ours? It's. a thought. I really hope the markets and resource structure is set up like Eves systems. If so we will be able to make a LOT of coin just by playing the market and hopefully will be able to buy whatever we need.

A couple of thoughts on the training (as laid out right now):
* it may be very difficult for even the largest player kingdoms/establishments to be able provide all the training needed by their members (at least at the time the need for such training first arises)
* if this is the case, it would seem to be in our best interests to assist our members by trying to negotiate bi-lateral / multilateral co-operation agreements with other kingdoms / establishments to gain access to training facilities not available (at least yet) in our own settlement(s)
* coordination of training facilities with other significant kingdoms / establishments (in our vicinity and with more or less similar "open doors" policies) might also help us find a niche in the training area, which on the one hand could help our revenue generation and on the other hand could enhance our value as an ally
It might not be a bad idea to start laying foundations for diplomatic relations with some of the more active existing communities also on the (possible) training co-operation front.
