So I am certainly one of the people who are ify on the whole all PvP all the time concept. I do understand its importance in this game, but having terrible experiences with open world PvP in other games it is one thing I am certainly not looking forward too.
People being able to loot my corpse is something I'm already not looking forward to, but why automatic item destruction on death?
Death seems extremely punishing. Which I can see arguments for why it should be since death is rather severe in the tabletop. Yet in the table top you aren't playing with other PCs whose sole intention to kill you and rob your corpse as much as they can.
I also see how they have it built in that traveling with a group of friends a) makes you less of a target and b) makes it harder to steal from you if they do manage to knock you down. But what does that mean for the people who would prefer to play solo exploring the woods?

Playing solo exploring the woods is going to be a high risk style. They've been pretty clear from that since the beginning. The further you get from civilization, the more dangerous it becomes. A large group is a way of mitigating that risk. Limiting the unthreaded items you carry is another. The only real changes in the blog were the fact that you lose gear whether you get your body back or not, and the fact that even threaded items will have durability. And you'd have lost the gear either way if you were alone, because there's no incentive for them not to loot your body.

I kind of like the durability aspect. Gives the crafters more work in not just creating but upkeep as well. That and it just makes moresense that over time an item will wear with use.

If items didn't degrade then eventually there would be a surplus of items and no need for crafters of lower level items, and the prices would drop dramatically because of the glut

I am completely fine with durability. I have just never played a game where I automatically lost 25% of my items upon death. My fear comes from just not being used to it and I recognize that, but I still don't like the idea of spending a lot of time collecting items and then losing 25% of whatever I'm carrying when I die with no chance of recovering it.
Really I guess I just really want more information on how they decide what I lose.

I have no experience in any sort of game like this, so I have no idea how I will feel about the concept of losing items. I too wonder how they will figure it out. Though too our threaded items wont be lost at least.
