[everything below is very much subject to change as this will have a year or two to stew before going live ;D]
Name: Fruben Fellhammer
Gender: Male
Race: Dwarf
Class Cleric-y (meaning I would like to incorporate decent healing, the ability to raise dead and wielding huge hammers, if possible without gimping myself too badly)
Alignment LG
Physical Description About an average size for a dwarf, a bit on the stocky side. Long flowing hair and a beard (duh!), possible with a whitish flavor. Possibly on the elderly side.
Equipment [WIP - To be determined in large part by the eventual game mechanics]

I agree with Calhoun. When making my character write up I made many assumptions based on the idea that the PFO would stick relatively closely to the TTRPG. This may not be the case, for exaple my druid may not have access to an animal companion, he may not get elven weapon proficiency, ect. On the other hand I made the write up, mostly so I could get into the roleplay aspect.
I like your write up, I'm just saying I understand that it's difficult to make detailed write up with so much up in the air.

Aye, then there is the added burden that writing a detailed character personality etc. upfront just does not work for me. Whenever I have planned something in too much detail I have had issues adjusting the concept when things do not go down exactly (or at all) as I planned... So nowadays I am generally rolling into games with a fairly loose concept and then let that develop on the fly. Might not be for everyone, but works for me. ;D

Keeping an open mind on a character concept is always a nice idea. It helps you develop the character as the story progresses, which is one of my favorite parts of TTgaming.

I can't count the number of times I have an idea for a character, and then when I start working with them they end up very different from the "original plan". I figure whatever I write is appended by "very likely will change as I get to know them."

One of my favorite things to do in TT is to form a character with a strong backstory/foundation (usually flawed) and watch how that plays out and changes as the story and other characters affect him/her. As an example, at the beginning of a certain campaign we're playing, my character was a back talking wise cracking authority shirking brawling clown who did nothing but mouth of and pick on things he couldn't beat. Over time, events (his daughter's capture, subsequent rescue, and illness; aid and support from teammates; losing companions; increasing threats to his daughter) he became very much a man who cared only for protecting his daughter. He became less nonsensical, less flippant (most of the time), and very much a driven, disciplined character. But he still made mistakes. He attempted to fight The Big Bad basically one on one and was thrown out a fifty story window. He's now permanently crippled (used something like magic to save himself from pancakedom) and worthless to the team in combat because he let his emotions get in the way. He did what he thought was right, but he caused his daughter to lose his ability to physically and personally protect her. Currently, he's comatose, but when he wakes up... So much emotional trauma from failing her.
I love seeing character development more than anything else, no matter the medium - books, shows, movies, games, whatever.
