Bristol was a huge fan of COH, but he couldn't quite ever get me to be active enough to engage in it. From everything I've heard now, I regret passing it up. I think you're settling in very well - I love how active you are and your level of feedback.

Well the chat topic worked, I left it for a couple of days and it's 4 pages I mainly play Traveller P&P these days but have played all sorts (recently supported the recent Kickstarters for new editions of Metamorphosis Alpha and traveller so looking forward to those dropping through the letterbox in a few months). In MMO terms I'm still playing Lord Of the Rings Online but played UO, DDO, EQ, Dark and Light, Vanguard, Eve and probably some others I can't think of right now. LotRO is just about to catch up with the five years I played UO for. The model for the player community should definitely be Ultima Online and the rigid structure of LotRO (fun though it is) should be a long way from what we're looking for on PFO. The books in my collection are unlikely to be of any great interest of themselves, they are mostly obscure Greek or Latin texts - I have them because of their age and in some cases interesting bindings. The one interesting title is "The Mistresses of the Kings of France" which is a wonderfully scurrilous description of the love lives of the French kings Those who are/aren't in Alpha, don't get too excited. I have been in a couple of Alphas and it's very different from Beta. They are developing the game around you and things can look and work pretty badly. Also content is often removed from the game as well as added as they fiddle with game balance. It can be a frustrating experience so I would only suggest doing it if you want to contribute to the game - they will expect you to complete detailed bug reports, suggestions, etc. If you enjoy this sort of thing you can potentially have an influence on the game as it develops but if you want something to play with Alphas are rarely much fun...and you can't talk about anything to anyone outside :/ Ruf

All you're making me want to do is learn Greek/Latin more (beyond phrases) so I can come bother you for an excuse to ogle your books. I'm not Alpha, but I wish I could be. On the other hand, getting to do the 9+ months of crowdforging in EE is going to be so worth it, even with changes/updates altering my gameplay and experience.

I make sure your servers fail exactly when you need them most and ensure you always have backups that get corrupted the day of your deadline. Er, I ensure 99+% uptime, I mean.

99% uptime just means you need to be more strategic with your crashes. =P

My account won't be Alpha, but I am in on the Beta. I get to watch my husband go through the alpha process ; ).
And old books... I love old books. We started taking book binding classes, but more akin to the Medieval time period. I'd love to do more with it, but I don't need yet another hobby since I already do beadwork, kumihimo weaving and illumination and calligraphy (for the SCA anyway).

I'm not quite as fancy at it as other people are, but I do the illumination on award scrolls for our local group. I linked my deviant art site to my profile that has pictures of them. Though I still need to put up the one scroll I did all the illumination/painting and calligraphy for. I'm just too lazy to actually get it up.

Ah, I see : ). I can't say I know as much on the history behind it, but have enjoyed the talks I've attended and the books we've gotten. Though most of the time its just me looking at the pretty pictures and deciding what pieces I can use (and actually draw).

That's awesome. Gosh, I wish I could have a skill like that. Major props to you. I'd love to see some of your work sometime.
