Shouldn't covert operatives working in the Ring of Shadow have a second Ring to serve as a cover? It's kind of hard to be an effective spy when everyone knows that your a spy.
Leadership and those not serving in a Covert role can probably get away with being publicly Members of the Ring of Shadow, but the moment you are ever an Overt member of the Ring of Shadow you are kind of useless as a Covert member.
Just my thoughts. I'm not in the Ring, I just thought it was weird to see so many people openly tagged as members of the Ring of Shadow.

Much of Shadow is more covert in-game than out - Assassinations, Theft, etc - only spies need their full identity covered. It's helpful for the others too, but not as necessary.

I definitely agree with this, which is why I did pick a second ring. Of course whether that's effective at the moment since both show up on my name, that's hard to say. But its a very good point.

I'm actually torn on this, depending on how we would implement it. I'm reticent to say "Oh, yeah, if you're in the Ring of Shadow, you can be in two rings, but no one else can."

I think its more the case of they are listed as being in a different ring but actually have no say in that other ring. Ie, myself as example. If I choose Warden for Shadow and Keeper for Gold, I would show up as Keeper of Gold.

Yes, but you'd still be recognized as a member of the Circle. So it's not like you'd be going out and infiltrating other organizations. So really, you're only hiding it from other Circle members.

I think for really only one portion of Ring will their true Ring "hidden", like WxCougar, I'm listed as a Warden of Shadow but I'm also a Keeper. When the game actually starts I'll still be titles Warden of Shadow because I'm not going to be doing covert operations. As far as that person having power within another Ring, well I think it would be very similar to when a person having an Alt Warden, they can speak and meet in Warden matters but their vote has no real weight. The people who would know that the person is actually covert would be the Guardian of Shadow, the leader of the Eyes, and the Guardian of the Ring where the person is a covert "Warden."
Also I think most of us are in multiple Rings we are just Wardens in one Ring. I'm a Warden of Shadow but Keeper in Wood and Gold.

Which is why full black operation spies might have to be alt accounts or deep under cover.

@dario - not necessarily true, just because I'm here on the boards doesn't mean I have to list my Company affiliation in Game. Part of this will all depend on how the game handles Companies and Company naming conventions. If its like GW2 I could be a member of 5 different companies.

Which going with alts for deep under cover may well have to be the way we go. Safety for no other reason for the person going out.

Getting caught will probably end in being murderhobo'd until you can get to safety.

The only reason I could see justifying hiding your affiliation from the rest of the Circle would be some sort of CID/Internal Affairs group. It just makes me uncomfortable, and I worry it would weaken trust in the circle if you have to consider that anyone you're talking to is lying to you.

Right, a Warden/Keeper of Shadow would just be careful to stay off the publicly visible boards when it comes to that. Everywhere else, no need to hide.
