I also rather like Mirivosk at this point, though all the other ideas have been great too.

Do we want to come to a conclusion on this, or keep batting it around for a year or so? We do have some time we need to fill with something. If we do want to come to a conclusion we should call it to a poll at some point. I suggest we include all the the suggested names thus far and open a poll.
We can always revisit it when we get closer to game time.

I am game for waiting if others are too. I am also game to vote sooner if people want. I am pretty open to this

I think we should consolidate a list and let it mull around for a month

Hmm, Miranor, being so Tolkienesque just does have a warm, happy, homey feeling for me. I think the current top two for me are Miranor and Mirivosk. I too like Miranor. It does sound Tolkien. So too does Mirivosk as Hrod likes. What I was advocating in adopting Tolkien naming nomenclatures is having a common word or two different one prefix the name of the place. i.e. Minas meaning Tower was used for many places: Minas Ithil, Minas Mogul, Minas Tirith Ost meaning Fort for Ost Forod, Ost Guruth, Ost Duruth, Ost-In-Endil. So perhaps Hrod's and Nymerias can both win by taking Vosk and making that a prefix (Vosk Mirinor) and Vosk something else. or Miri becomes the prefix and we have Miri Vosk and Miri Nor. What then does Vosk or Miri mean? The former sounds more masculine: Fort, Citadel, Keep, and the latter more peaceful: village, hamlet, Home. Miri Nor - Hamlet of Nature Miri Vosk - Village of Smithing Vosk Miranor - Fort of Fellowship or something along those lines - you get the point. All that said - I like both Miranor and Mirivosk. The former sounds better, though.

Frostrazor brings up an excellent idea depending on how big we ever expand. If we ever have more than one settlement under our banners it could be cool to have a shared prefix.

Miri is peace in russian vosk is a suffix that many cities have... maybe it means city? I do like the idea of using Vosk as a prefix for names of settlements or guard towers we build. Vosk Drannon Vosk Gundar Vosk Beladun

Vosk Drannon Vosk Gundar Vosk Beladun Exactly!!!! You nailed it! I love the sound of some of those Vosk Drannon and Vosk Gundar sound very fantasy-realmish. For places like forts, keeps, waypoints; places of defense. Miri could be settlements of peace. MiriNor MiriVarn MiriDarl MiriGral

Miri is peace in russian vosk is a suffix that many cities have... maybe it means city? In Czech and Slovak it means Wax But the beauty of this all is it's in Golarion. The tongue Ulfen (Skald), or the tongue of Kellids (Hallit) says the Vosk and Miri could mean whatever the heck we want them to. Unlike Tolkien's Elvish, Paizo has not created their own languages. Taldan is the common tongue - but I think most of us just assume Taldan is the common language that we as players would speak normally. Otherwise you're just saying "Vosk" is Vosk in common.

I really like Vosk Miranor for our settlement name, and using Vosk as a prefix for our settlements, to signify a city (which our first settlement will inevitably grow into). Perhaps later on we can develop prefixes for other types of structures, like forts or towers and such.

Perhaps later on we can develop prefixes for other types of structures, like forts or towers and such. That would lend a lot of consistence to areas under our name. With enough exposure, you'd know it was a KotC settlement/structure just by looking at its name.

Just to throw a Viking-Wrench into the whole thing.....is it safe to assume that the as a guild we'll have a settlement/town(s) to call our own?
I guess i was always assuming towns/settlements would crop up housing a number of groups and interests.
If you think of towns typically found in Fantasy Fiction, they are typically inhabited by various groups etc.
Or is it going to play out more like Kingmaker Adventure Path were our guild has a "kingdom" to build just as the PCs of that AP are chartered to do. Do we then allow other small guilds to be housed in our towns with agreements of trade, peace, etc???
If it was built to have say - "a guild has the whole town" then how do individual players not belonging to a guild have a place to call home? or do they? or is it just common sense the lone wolves are forced to wander the wilds like Caine of Kung-Fu did - and many simply won't survive long....?
All that being said - the last comment is quite right - with a common nomenclature for each establishment, it would become "local knowledge" amongst players that it belongs to us - or at least founded by us.
