I like that diversity, especially if we get (for instance) Seventh Veil and they introduce some more caster-oriented events.

Actually (and I know it's an eastern setting) but I remember a lot of good tournamets in L5R. Might be something worth looking at. Plus, it had caster tournaments in addition to knight tournaments.

Depending on what is available to us, I think archery, group melee, and individual duels will be all we can conceivably manage to start.
Also, wanted to add that while I've talked to some others about their interest in a tourney idea, I in no way meant to take credit for the idea. Where that misconception existed, I have taken it upon myself to make sure that it is understood that this is the Keepers idea. I apologize for any confusion.

I think it would be great fun for everyone. About the potential for death.. Hopefully we will be able to offer Rez if it were to happen, but maybe if GW is willing to add an unconsciousness point before death, that might solve the problem.

You've been great in this support, Wyldethorne--no worries or doubt on the part of the Circle at all as to Aeternum's support!

Thanks Erian!
Another facet that should be looked at is small entertainment, like wandering minstrels, fortune tellers, and such on the Tourney grounds and in the bazaar. Has anything been mentioned about having a music system similar to LotRO's?

Plus, it had caster tournaments in addition to knight tournaments. If we were to have low health(hps/whatever) dummies that could be placed, there could be a chance for mages to try out their Fireballs and Lightning Bolts, as an idea for this. Curious as to how illusions would work. Another arcane competition could be the most realistic illusion, but that is probably more PnP than PfO.

Actually, a field with a bunch of low HP dummies and a couple of high HP "boss" dummies would make a pretty awesome evocation competition.

It would be great if they have a way to incorporate music and the like. Such a fun concept, this whole tourney idea . But then that is the reason I like going to SCA war tourneys.

If we could find a way to have Ring of Iron members supply the tournament arms and armor... We'll need to have designated Marshals to watch over the tournaments and keep everyone honest by whatever rules we set up. Being able to have music/etc would be very good. This makes me wonder about food/water in PFO - will we need to eat and drink, or will those be treated as items that replenish health/magic (or whatever the magic system ends up being)? It'd be fun to organize jousting, but I'm not sure how to do that in game. Melees would probably be the easiest to organize.

Ryan's said he doesn't like the idea of Hunger/Thirst mechanics, but that his post was noncommittal enough to imply it wasn't locked out yet. Citation

I hope we can get drunk in game, like you could in EQ or the single player game Gothic. We could have drunken relay races! Lol

One of the events we host in our TOR divisions is a Recruit Gear Only tournament. This levels the playing field amongst the participants since no one is outgearing their opposition. Might be a similar way of doing this here, requiring everyone to only use basic or master crafted gear, and the hosting settlements smiths could have some available for purchase for those that don't come properly equipped.

It would be great if they have a way to incorporate music and the like. Perhaps Alchemical Romance or Adamantine Zepplin could do a fund raiser.

Sign me up for drunken relay races. Hunger/Thirst: I'd prefer a system with it, but I could live without it. I think it enhances the economy aspect, if only by making you ensure you have tons of food requisite for waging war. I'd be okay with it being something that applied more to the NPC populations (for example, you must have X bushels of wheat stored to feed your town for T time).
